1. Download the ALP503K2.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ALP503K2.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "ALPS 5.0.503K.3 Mouse Driver - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
4. At the "Setup Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Touchpad driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to install the Alps Pointing Device driver again, you will need to first remove the ALP503K2.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and point to Control Panel.
2. From the Control Panel menu, click Add/Remove Programs.
3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, in the "Currently installed programs:" list, click the "ALPS 5.0.503K.3 Mouse Driver" entry to highlight it.
4. Click the Change/Remove button.
5. At the "ReadOnly File Detected" box, click the check box next to "Don't display this message again" (to check it) and click Yes.
6. Click Close to exit the "Add/Remove Programs" window.

The uninstallation is complete. You may now redownload and reinstall the ALP503K2.EXE file.

This program installs the Alps® Pointing Device (Touchpad) driver and control utility.

• Please read the Sony Windows® 2000 Upgrade Information page, if the computer will be or has been upgraded to the Windows® 2000 operating system. If the new operating system is not installed or configured correctly, some updates may not install properly.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
