1. Download the ALPS56.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ALPS56.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Sony ALPS Point Device Driver 5.6A - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-6 to reinstall the update.
4. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Alps Pointing Device (Touchpad) Driver And Control Utility is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to install the Alps Point Device Driver again, you will need to first remove the ALPS56.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the ALPS56.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "Sony ALPS Point Device Driver 5.6A- InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next.
3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK to remove all of the update's components.
4. If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes. Please wait as the installation files are removed.

The uninstallation is complete. You may now redownload and reinstall the ALPS56.EXE file.

This utility installs the Alps® Pointing Device (Touchpad) driver and control utility.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
