1. Download the AW-P13600801JI.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the AW-P13600801JI.EXE file to begin the installation.
   NOTE: Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If prompted to restart the computer, click "OK". After the computer restarts, please continue with step 5 below.
3. At the "Information" box, insert the 3½ bootable floppy disk into the floppy disk drive and click "OK".
4. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click "Finish". Leave the bootable floppy disk with the ESCD files in the floppy drive.
5. As the computer restarts, it will boot from the floppy disk instead of the hard drive. The BIOS ESCD will be updated automatically.
6. At the "A:>" prompt, eject and remove the floppy disk from the drive.
7. Simultaneously press and then release the CTRL, ALT and DEL keys to restart the computer.
8. During startup, the message "ESCD Update Successfully" will appear.

After the computer restarts, installation of the AwardBIOS™ ESCD Update is complete.

This utility will update the ESCD (Extended System Configuration Data) in the system BIOS to resolve the error "Can't Write ESCD" error message that appears in the DOS screen during computer startup.

• Before installing this update, you will need to prepare a 3½ bootable floppy disk to receive the ESCD update files. For additional assistance, please see Creating a Bootable Floppy Disk for Windows XP BIOS Updates.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
