Download & Install Guide:

  1. Download the BIME08P1.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the BIME08P1.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "BIOS ME R0208P1 - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as the files are extracted and the computer model is identified. As these processes complete, the boxes will close automatically. A Command Prompt box will open and the CRISDISK utility will launch.
  4. At the "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key.
  5. At the "Insert new diskette for drive A: and press ENTER when ready..." prompt, insert a floppy disk in the floppy disk drive.
    NOTE: This process will erase ALL files currently on the floppy diskette.
  6. Press the ENTER key. Please wait as the diskette is formatted.
  7. At the "Volume label (11 characters, ENTER for none)" prompt, press ENTER.
  8. At the "QuickFormat another (Y/N)?" prompt, press the N key and then press ENTER.
  9. At the "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key. Please wait as BIOS Update files copied to the floppy disk.
  10. At the "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key. The floppy disk will be made bootable.
  11. At the next "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key again.
  12. Eject the floppy diskette from the USB disk drive.
  13. At the final "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key again.
  14. Click the X in the top-right corner of the "Finished - CRISDISK" box to close it.
  15. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected.
  16. Insert the floppy disk back into the drive, and click Finish to restart the computer. The computer will boot from the floppy disk and run the BIOS update utility.
  17. At the "Phoenix Phlash Utility" box, press the Y key to start the update process. Please wait as the update process will take approximately two minutes. After the update is complete, the computer will turn off.
  18. Eject the floppy disk from the drive. It is recommended that you keep the disk in a safe place if it becomes necessary to reinstall the BIOS update.
  19. Turn on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS update is complete.



Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to run the BIOS update utility again, you will need to first remove the existing BIME08P1 installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the directory where the BIME8P1.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
  2. At the "BIOS ME R0208P1 - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next.
  3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK.
    NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
  4. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.
The uninstallation process is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the BIME08P1.EXE file.

This utility updates the computer system BIOS to enhance operating system compatibility.

Important Note:

  • Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
