1. Download the BIOS05A0.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the BIOS05A0.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "BIOS05A0 - Welcome" box, click Continue.
4. At the "BIOS Version W2K05A0 Upgrade Utility" screen, click Next.
5. At the "Copying Files" screen, insert a formatted bootable floppy disk in the disk drive (A:), and then click Next. Please wait as the files are copied to the floppy disk.
6. At the "Finished copying files" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish. Be sure to leave the floppy disk in the drive. The computer will boot the floppy disk and run the BIOS update utility. After the update is complete, the computer will turn off.
7. Eject the floppy disk from the drive. It is recommended that you keep the disk in a safe place if it becomes necessary to reinstall the BIOS update.
8. Turn on the computer.
   NOTE: If the following error is displayed:
   
   WARNING
   0251: System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used
   ERROR
   0280: Previous boot incomplete - Default configuration used
   
   Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup
   
   follow these steps to restore the BIOS defaults:
   1. Press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup.
   2. At the "PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility - Main" screen, press the F9 key to restore the Setup Defaults.
   3. At the "Setup Confirmation" box, confirm that Yes is highlighted and press ENTER.
   4. Press the F10 key to save the changes and exit.
   5. At the "Setup Confirmation" box, confirm that Yes is highlighted and press ENTER.
   The computer will restart.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS update is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to run the BIOS05A0.EXE utility again, you will need to first remove the BIOS05A0 installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the BIOS05A0.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "BIOS05A0 - Welcome" window, click Continue.
3. At the "Setup" window, select "Remove" and click Next to remove the components.
4. Insert the bootable floppy disk back into the drive.
5. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK.
   NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
6. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.

• Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
• Before installing this update, the floppy drive will need to be installed in the computer's internal drive bay and you will need to prepare a 3½ bootable floppy disk to receive the installation files. For additional assistance, please see How To Format A Floppy Disk Or Create A Bootable Floppy Disk.
• This procedure will update the computer BIOS for Windows 2000. It may be necessary to remove and reinstall any installed hardware that did not ship with the computer. For assistance reinstalling the hardware, please consult the product documentation or contact the product manufacturer.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
