1. Download the DVCAPPATCHG3.SEA file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PTPDRV10E.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "This Self-Extracting archive was created using an Aladdin Systems Stuffit(TM) product" message box, click Continue.
4. At the file location box, browse the hard disk to locate a suitable location to extract the files.
5. In the "UnStuff as:" text box, type:
   
   DVCapPatchG3
   and then click Save.
6. At the "UnStuffing was successful!" message box, click Quit.
7. Go to the DVCapPatchG3 folder (where the files were extracted), and double-click the DVCAPPAT.CHG file.
8. At the file location box, browse the contents of the hard drive to locate the DVCap application.
   NOTE: The update can only be applied to the DV applications on the hard drive. The copies of these applications on the original installation CD cannot be modified..
9. Click to select the "DVCap application" and click Open.
10. At the "Patch was applied successfully" message box, click OK.
11. Repeat steps 10 through 13, but instead update the DVCapLite application.

After both the DVCap and DVCapLite applications have been updated, the installation will be complete.

This software resolves the issue where the Macintosh® operating system versions of the Sony® DVCap v1.0 and DVCapLite v1.0 software that shipped with the DVBK-2000 Digital Video Capture Card are incompatible with the Power Macintosh® G3 systems. Attempting to launch v1.0 of either of these applications on a G3 system will generate the following error message:

• Hardware initialization failed. This application cannot continue running without accessing the hardware.

• In order to install the DVCAPPATCHG3 update, it is necessary to have already installed the DVBK-2000 capture card and the original DVCap v1.0 and DVCapLite v1.0 software.
• If the DVBK-2000 capture card is installed in a non-G3 Macintosh, it is not necessary to apply this update. If this update is installed on a non-G3 Macintosh, the DVCap and DVCapLite applications will continue to function normally.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
