1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
2. Download the HLFOPD-00731201-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the HLFOPD-00264794-1040.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. At the "User Account Control" screen, click "Yes".
5. If the "Select Language" screen appears, select the language you wish to use, and then click "OK".
6. At the "Select Country" screen, select the country for this installation, and then click "Next".
7. At the "Hitachi DVD-RAM GT30N Drive Firmware Update Ver. KS06" screen, click "Next".
8. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
9. At the "FwFlash" box, click "OK".
10. At the next "FwFlash" box, select the "HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GT30N" option from the drop-down box, then click the "FW Flashup" button.
    NOTE: At this point the drive will be updated with the new firmware. This process may take a few minutes.
11. At the "The flashup finished" screen, click "OK".
12. At the "FwFlash" box, click the "X" in the upper right corner.
13. At the "The device update has completed successfully. Please re-boot your computer" screen, click "OK".
14. Restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Hitachi® DVD-RAM GT30N Firmware Update is complete.

This utility updates the Hitachi DVD-RAM GT30N Firmware to version KS06 to reduce the speed of rotation of the optical drive to improve audio CD playback.
