1. Download the ISS.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ISS.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Intel SpeedStep Technology Applet - Welcome" box, click Continue. A "Setup" box will appear and the setup files will be installed. Please wait until it finishes installing all of the files.
4. At the "Welcome" box, click Next.
5. At the "Software License Agreement" box, click Yes to accept all the terms of the License Agreement.
6. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation will be complete.

If it is necessary to install the Intel SpeedStep Technology Applet Utility again, you will need to first remove the ISS.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" box, verify the "Intel SpeedStep Technology Applet Utility" is selected and click the Change/Remove button.
4. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click Yes.
5. At the "Remove Programs From Your Computer" box, click OK.
6. Click OK to acknowledge the removal of the software from the system.
7. Click Close to exit the "Add/Remove Programs" applet.
8. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Control Panel" window.
9. Click Start and click Shut Down.
10. At the "Shut Down Windows" box, select "Restart" and then click OK to restart the system.

The ISS.EXE file can now be reinstalled.

This utility optimizes the performance of the Intel® mobile Pentium® III processor featuring Intel SpeedStep technology under the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 operating system and running from either battery or AC power.

• Before installing this update, be sure the computer is connected to AC power.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
