1. BEFORE installing this update, it is necessary to identify the CD/DVD Drive installed on the computer, to determine whether or not this update is required.
   1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
   2. At the "Control panel" window, click the System icon.
   3. At the "System properties" box, click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.
   4. At the "Device Manager" window, click the (+) sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives category to expand the menu.
   5. The second device listed should be "MATSHITA CW-8571 CD-RW" If it is, please continue with this update. If it is not, do not continue with the steps below because this update is not for your system.
2. Download the MT-41V520801AU.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the MT-41V520801AU.EXE file to begin the installation. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as the files are extracted and the computer model and CD-ROM Drive is identified. As these processes complete, the boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: The firmware update utility will automatically launch and the Matshita CW-8571 CD-RW Drive firmware will be updated automatically.
4. Please wait while the CD-RW ROM firmware is upgraded.
   WARNING!!: Do not interrupt the update process, as it may damage the drive.
5. When the firmware update is complete, click OK to restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Matshita CW-8571 CD-RW Drive Firmware Update is complete.

• Before installing this firmware update, it is necessary to disconnect all peripheral devices, disconnect all network cables and remove all PC cards that are inserted into the PC card slots on the computer. Do not enter Standby or Hibernation mode during this update.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
