1. Download the SOA001XDAV.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SOA001XDAV.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Asus BIOS 4001 Installation Utility - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
4. Make sure the USB floppy drive is connected to the computer and insert the formatted floppy disk in the disk drive.
5. After the BIOS files are copied to the floppy disk, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish. As the computer restarts, it will boot from the floppy drive. The BIOS update utility will launch. Please wait as the installation of the BIOS will take one to two minutes to complete. Once the installation is complete, the utility will exit to a command prompt.
6. At the A:> prompt, eject the floppy disk from the floppy drive and turn off the computer.
7. Wait a few seconds and turn the computer back on.
8. At the initial "Sony" screen, press the F2 key to enter BIOS setup.
9. At the "Award BIOS Setup Utility" screen, press F5 to load the BIOS Setup default settings.
10. At the "Setup confirmation" box, confirm "Yes" is highlighted, and then press the ENTER key.
11. Press the F10 key to save the configuration and to exit the BIOS setup.
12. At the "Setup confirmation" box, make sure "Yes" is highlighted, and then press the ENTER key. The computer will restart.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS is complete.

This program will install the original BIOS Update Utility, Revision 4001, for the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating Systems

• Before installing this BIOS, please connect a USB floppy disk drive to the computer and prepare a formatted 3½ floppy disk. For additional assistance, please see Creating a Bootable Floppy Disk for Windows XP BIOS Updates.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
