Download & Install Guide:

  1. Download the SONYMINF.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Place a formatted floppy disk in your A: drive.
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and copy the SONYMINF.EXE file to your A: drive. (The file may appear as just SONYMINF if your system hides file name extensions.)
  4. In the A: drive window of Windows Explorer or "My Computer," double-click on SONYMINF.EXE. This will expand the file onto the floppy. Be sure to leave the floppy in the A: drive.
  5. Close the MS-DOS window.
  6. Open the Display Properties window. Do this by selecting the Display icon in Control Panel, or by right-clicking anywhere on the Windows 95 desktop (away from any icons). A small menu will open, left-click once on the last option, Properties. This opens the Display Properties window.
  7. Click on the Settings Tab at the top of the window.
    For PCV70/90:
    1. Click on the "Change Display Type" button.
    2. Locate the "Monitor Type" area in the lower half of the "Change Display Type" window, and proceed to step 10, below.
    For All other models running Windows 95:
    1. Click on the "Advanced Properties" button.
    2. Click on "Monitor" tab. Go to step 10, below.
  8. Click on the button to the right of the current monitor type. This will open the Select Device window.
  9. Click on in the Select Device window.
  10. In the "Install From Disk" window, A: should already be entered. Click on .
  11. Another "Select Device" window will open. Select the proper monitor model number from the list.
  12. Select to load .INF file. It will take a few seconds for the file to load. The screen may flicker and go black momentarily.
  13. Click in Change Display Type window.
  14. Click in Display Properties. The monitor type is now set.
  15. Remove the floppy disk, label it "Sony Monitor .INF Files" and store it for future use. You will need it if you ever perform a system recovery using the Recovery CD.
