1. Download the UETH98.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the UETH98.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device Driver Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will appear during the installation of the driver setup files. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: This driver is not a WHQL-certified driver, you may receive a warning message box "NeoMagic MagicMedia256XL+ has not passed Window Logo testing...", click "Continue Anyway" to continue installation.
4. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish.
   NOTE: If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-10 to reinstall the update.
5. After the computer has finished restarting, shut down the computer.
   1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
   2. At the "Shut Down Windows" box, select "Shut down" and click Restart.
   As the computer restarts, the Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device will be detected and the drivers will be installed.
6. After the computer has shut down, attach the Port Replicator and AC Adapter to the computer.
7. Turn on the computer.
8. At the "System Settings Change" box, click Yes to restart the system.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device Driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device Driver, you will need to first remove the UETH98.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the UETH98.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device Driver Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several boxes will appear during the installation of the maintenance files. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK to remove all of its components. Please wait as the installation files are removed.

The uninstallation process is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the UETH98.EXE file.

This utility installs an updated Kawasaki LSI USB-Ethernet Device driver.

• [PCG-F500 Series computers Only]: Some of the PCG-F500 VAIO computer computers may experience an issue where the computer's dial-up Internet connection or LAN connection disconnects while the PCGA-PRF1 or PCGA-PRF1A Port Replicator is attached. The installation of this updated driver will resolve this issue.
• [PCG-F100 and PCG-F200 Series computers Only]:  This update also supersedes two earlier USB-Ethernet updates:
  • DVgate Motion Drops Frames While Capturing Video When A Port Replicator Is Attached To The computer [USB_ETH.EXE, version 2.00, 8/11/99]
  • Sony PCGA-PRF1 USB-Ethernet Driver Installation Disk Utility, [USB_NET.EXE, version 2.00, 8/25/99]
  If you still have a copy of either of these updates, please do not reinstall them after installing this update.
• Before beginning the installation of this update, please disconnect the computer from the PCGA-PRF1 or PCGA-PRF1A Port Replicator. For optimal installation results, leave only the AC Adapter connected.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
