  1. Download the UMS1_W2K.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).

  4. At "USB Mouse driver for Microsoft Windows 2000 - Welcome" box, click Continue.
    NOTE: Please wait as the installation files are copied to the system. The SONY USB Mouse Setup will launch.
  5. If a Registry Editor error: "Cannot import C:WinntPeripheralsUSBMouseUSBMouse.reg. Error opening the file. There may be a disk or a file system error." appears, Windows 2000 was not installed in the default installation directory (C:WINNT). Follow the steps below to manually import the Registry information.
    NOTE: If this error does not appear, skip to step 8.
    1. Click OK to close the "Registry Error" box.
    2. At the Windows Desktop, double-click the My Computer icon.
    3. At the "My Computer" window, locate the folder where Windows 2000 was installed and double-click it.
    4. In the Windows 2000 installation folder, click the "Show Files" hyperlink to display the folder contents.
    5. Double-click the Peripherals folder.
    6. In the Peripherals folder, double-click the USBMouse folder.
    7. In the USBMouse folder, right-click the USBMouse.reg (or USBMouse) file.
    8. From the menu, click Merge.
    9. At the "Registry Editor" confirmation box, click Yes to update the Registry.
    10. At the second "Registry Editor" box, click OK to continue.
    11. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Usbmouse" Explorer window.
  6. At "Welcome" box, click Next.
  7. At "Start Installation" box, click Next.
    NOTE: Please wait while the drivers are installed.
  8. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue.
  9. At the "Setup Complete" box, click Finish.
  10. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" (if it is not already selected) and then click Finish.
    NOTE: As the computer restarts, the updated files will be installed. Once the installation is complete, the system will continue to load Windows.
  11. After the Windows has completed restarting, connect the USB mouse to the USB connector on the computer.
    NOTE: Windows will detect the USB mouse hardware and search for the drivers.
  12. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to install the USB mouse drivers.
    NOTE: Please wait while the drivers are installed.
The installation of the update is now complete.
