1. Download the UTL0132K.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
   NOTE: If PowerPanel has been installed before in Windows 2000 and it is currently running, follow the steps in the Uninstall section to close it and uninstall it. After it has been uninstalled and the computer has restarted, repeat steps 4-7 to reinstall it.
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the UTL0132K.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Welcome to InstallShield Wizard for PowerPanel" screen, click Next.
4. At the "Choose Destination Location" screen, click Next. Please wait as the files are extracted and installed.
5. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." and click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony PowerPanel Utility is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Sony PowerPanel, you will need to first remove the installation files. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. At the Taskbar, in the status area next to the time, right-click the PowerPanel icon (it will look like a blue battery with a red cord).
2. From the menu, click Close.
3. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
4. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
5. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, from the list of installed applications, click the "PowerPanel" entry to highlight it.
6. Click the "Change/Remove" button.
7. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK.
8. At the "Shared File Deleted" box, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" (to check it) and then click Yes.
9. At the "Locked File Deleted" box, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" (to check it) and then click Reboot. Please wait as the files are uninstalled.
10. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." and click Finish.

After the system restarts, the uninstallation of the PowerPanel Utility is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the UTL0132K.EXE file.

This program installs the Sony® PowerPanel Utility.

• Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
  
  
  1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
  2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device
  3. Sony Utilities Dynamic Link Library
  4. Sony Shared Library
  
  If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Microsoft® Windows® 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.
• Before installing Windows 2000 Professional or this update, please be sure to read Installing the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Operating System. Most of Sony's Windows 2000 software updates require you to install Windows 2000 Professional in C:WINNT. If Windows 2000 is not installed in this location, these updates will not install correctly.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
