This update process requires the following items for proper updating:

- Available Hard Disk Space: 5MB or more
- Installed Memory: 32MB or more
- A USB port
- Optional: A Memory Stick®, Memory Stick PRO™, CompactFlash card, or Microdrive media slot or adaptor.

- Camera power supply:
- Use only the AC-L15 AC adapter that is supplied with a DSC-F828 camera.
WARNING!!: You cannot update the firmware when the camera is running off the NP-FM50 InfoLithium® battery. It is extremely important to ensure that camera AC power source is not interrupted during this process. The camera may be rendered inoperable if the camera power fails during this update.
- Use only the AC-L15 AC adapter that is supplied with a DSC-F828 camera.
- Memory Stick®, Memory Stick PRO™, Microdrive, or CompactFlash® card media that is blank and new or recently formatted with the camera.
- For the Windows 2000 and XP Operating Systems Only: During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
- To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
