Important Note:

• If the Windows 2000 BIOS Update has already been installed, and the computer boots successfully into Windows 2000, it is not necessary to install this update.
• This update will only create the firmware upgrade disk when it is run in Windows 98 Second Edition (SE). This file will not run correctly under the Windows 2000 operating system. Sony strongly recommends installing this update before installing the BIOS Version W2K05K1 Upgrade Utility (BIOS05K1.EXE) for Windows 2000.
• After successfully upgrading the firmware on an affected hard disk drive, you will not be able to restore the earlier version of firmware.
• Before installing this update, be sure the computer is connected to AC power.
• To install this upgrade, you will need to create a bootable floppy disk to receive the firmware update files. To prepare a floppy disk for use with this update, please refer to the Create A Bootable Floppy Disk procedure.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
